I grew up in the countryside of Massachusetts and through a study-abroad program with my university and fate I ended up in West Wales, UK, where I met my now-husband. Like many, I suspect, I first picked up a camera with any real artistic intent after the birth of my children. Fueled by my background in art history and illustration I persuaded photography with a stalker-like obsession, completely falling in love with the medium. I live with my husband and our three children on our dairy farm in the rolling, green hills of West Wales, and my children and our rustic surroundings are my daily photographic inspiration.

Maria says...
"I fell in love with photography at a very early age. I received my first SLR (film) at the age of 16 and my first darkroom equipment (again film LOL) at the age of 18. I have always loved to draw and paint. With the development of digital and with it Photoshop I am now able to blend drawing, painting and photography. I shoot with Nikon and LOVE my 50mm f1.4. It is my go to lens. I guess it is a throwback from my film days. I love telling stories with my art so any of my images that have a strong story line that people can relate to are my favorites. Beyond the Spectrum Photography by Tanya Giles Hilder

Our interview with Tanya from Beyond the Spectrum Photography.

Our little boy has Autism. When he was younger he used to line absolutely everything up. As a way of coping I decide to photograph his lines. Then we discovered that he could see the world and live in it much more comfortably if he could see pictures. I photographed absolutely everything in our immediate world. He has given me my photography…I never knew I could do what I’m doing. Two years later and I feel like Alice; I fell into another world and it's insanely exciting. I also been nominated as a Queensland Arts Culture Champion, and have just won Silver on an image I entered into the Australian Professional Photographers Awards. I love photographing children, that’s where my real passion lies….in a previous life I was a Social Worker; I've seen the highs and low’s of where little people can be…so it’s my joy now to watch them interact with each other and their family members, to be able to record those moments that will be here for when their children have children of their own. How does it get better than that?

Bianca Duimels workshop A short bio on Bianca. She says-
 I have been a pro photographer for 25 years , bought my first glamour studio 20 years ago. I started in a photographic laboratory , developing film , printing , hand enlarger , learning darkroom skills etc . I then helped set up mini labs and progressed to selling photographic equipment , managing camera stores learning everything there was to know about photographic equipment and running a busy store, then bought my first studio ,photographing Glamour ( I am also a Make up artist and hair stylist ) families and weddings for 15 years.I have always drawn and painted , the arrival of Photoshop was an wonderful development , I jumped in both feet
I was Classic Portrait Photographer of the year last year with the NZIPP and am a master and fellow member.
